๐Ÿš“ Gainesville High Students Learn Firsthand About the Dangers of Distracted and Drunk Driving

On Friday, Gainesville High School hosted a powerful demonstration to show students the real-life consequences of unsafe driving. The event featured a mock car accident staged in front of the school, complete with emergency response teams, a helicopter, police, and paramedics. One student โ€œvictimโ€ even pretend died in the scenario to help drive home the seriousness of distracted and impaired driving.

After the demonstration, guest speakersโ€”including a parent who lost their son to distracted drivingโ€”shared emotional stories about how one quick glance at a phone can change lives forever. The event left a strong impression on students and faculty alike, reinforcing the message: donโ€™t drive distracted, and donโ€™t drive impaired.

๐Ÿฆ… Bald Eagle Spotted at Lake Kiowa!

If you needed a reminder of how beautiful North Texas can be, here it is! Local resident shared an incredible photo in the Gainesville, TX Chatter group this week โ€” a bald eagle perched high in a tree at Lake Kiowa.

Yep, you read that right โ€” a bald eagle, right here in Cooke County! These majestic birds are known for their striking white heads and powerful wingspans, and while theyโ€™re more common around big lakes and rivers, itโ€™s still a rare and exciting sight for our area.

Locals say the lakeโ€™s peaceful setting and steady supply of fish make it the perfect pit stop for migrating eagles this time of year. So if youโ€™re out near Lake Kiowa, keep your eyes on the treetops โ€” you might just catch a glimpse of this national symbol in action.

What a cool reminder that a little bit of wild beauty is always nearby!
