Local Christmas Parades Are Here!

It’s officially parade season across Cooke County, and our local towns are gearing up to bring the cheer. If you’re looking to catch a little holiday magic (and maybe see a familiar face or two), here are the upcoming parade dates:

Bundle up, grab some hot cocoa, and support our communities as they light up the season!

One of Gainesville’s favorite holiday traditions is officially returning! Red River Rides is bringing back their Christmas Lights Tours, running nightly from December 10th through December 21st—and spots are already filling fast.

Hop aboard their cozy 14-passenger coach, turn on your favorite Christmas songs through the Bluetooth system, and enjoy a guided cruise through some of the brightest holiday displays in North Texas. Feeling brave? Guests can even sing along using the onboard microphones for a little Christmas karaoke.

Tours are great for families, date nights, friend groups, or anyone wanting to add a little sparkle to the season. They’re also booking private rides for family gatherings and company Christmas parties.

If you want to grab a spot, call early—this one books up quickly every year!

Hedges’ Farm had a magical surprise this week — a bright red Santa Mailbox appeared on their porch overnight, courtesy of what they can only assume was one very sneaky North Pole elf!

Kids have already started stopping by to pick up Santa letter papers, take them home, write their wishes, and drop them back into the mailbox. The farm is hoping to see lots of little writers this season, all aiming to make Santa’s nice list.

And mark your calendars:  Santa himself will be visiting Hedges’ Farm on December 7th from 5–7 PM. Families are welcome to come by, say hello, and deliver their letters in person.

A little holiday magic right here in Cooke County.

In a town full of hardworking families, Gainesville has a brand-new young entrepreneur worth cheering on. Brianna Palin, just 16 years old and the oldest of seven siblings, has officially launched her own cleaning business—and she’s already winning hearts with her work ethic and determination.

Brianna says growing up in a big family taught her early how to keep a home clean, organized, and running smoothly. Now she’s turning that experience into a way to earn her own money, build real-world skills, and help local families get their homes guest-ready for the holidays.

Homeschooled and highly flexible with scheduling, Brianna offers a full range of services including whole-home cleanings, dusting, vacuuming and mopping, kitchen wipe-downs, bathroom deep cleans, bedroom tidying, laundry, and even full organization projects. Pricing starts at $60–$80 for a basic clean and $100–$140 for deep cleans, with affordable add-ons like laundry and organization help.

Neighbors describe her as reliable, hardworking, and incredibly detail-oriented—the kind of person who doesn’t just clean a room, but leaves it feeling peaceful and refreshed.

As the holiday season ramps up, Brianna hopes to book more homes and continue growing her business. It’s inspiring to see a local teen taking initiative, learning to run a business from scratch, and offering a service many families genuinely need.

If you’d like to support a young entrepreneur (and check “clean the house” off your list), you can reach Brianna directly through her page at Facebook.

Let’s cheer her on, Gainesville—this is exactly the kind of local story that makes our community shine.

STEAM Night Brings Big Crowds and Bigger Curiosity

Gainesville families packed into the school this week for STEAM Night, an evening full of hands-on activities designed to spark creativity and curiosity in local students. Kids had the chance to drive robots, build bird feeders, experiment with science stations, and explore all kinds of interactive projects that kept the entire place buzzing.

Parents wandered station to station with their children, and the excitement was impossible to miss—even the adults were jumping in on the fun. The event highlighted just how much our community values learning, creativity, and giving students opportunities to explore outside the classroom.

A big shoutout to the teachers and volunteers who helped run the stations and made the night smooth, engaging, and memorable for everyone who attended.

Another great example of Gainesville showing up for our kids.

Local Boutique Launches “Final Classics” Black Friday Event

Pistols & Petticoats, a favorite women’s boutique located inside the Cowgirl Mercantile in downtown Gainesville, is rolling out a special Black Friday weekend event as the shop prepares to launch its new elevated collection. The owner is officially retiring an entire line of their classic tees and everyday staples and offering them at Black Friday pricing for 48 hours only.

Shoppers can expect 40–50% off the retiring collection, plus a free turquoise gift with purchases over $75 and a VIP mystery bag for orders over $150. According to the boutique, “Once they’re gone, they’re gone — and if anything lasts through the weekend, you won’t see these prices again.”

The sale runs Friday at 8AM through Saturday at midnight both in-store at Cowgirl Mercantile and online.

If you love supporting local boutiques, this is a great chance to shop small and snag a deal before the holiday season hits full swing.
